Malus Domestica

Malus domestica is a liposomal preparation based on the stem cells of a rare Swiss apple. Uttwiler Spatlauber is a variety of a Swiss apple that is derived from the seedlings of a type of apple originally planted in the middle of the 18th Century. This particular apple variety showed excellent durability without shriveling. Today, we choose our apples based upon their sweet flavor and so the acid tasting Uttwiler Spatlauber, is becoming more and more rare. Uttwiler Spatlauber apples are rich in phytonutrients, proteins, and long-living cells. These characteristics lead to impressive storability and longevity properties. Longevity is related to specific cells called stem cells – these are unspecialized (undifferentiated) cells that are able to make identical copies of themselves as well as differentiate to become specialized cells. Epidermal stem cells replenish and maintain the balance of cells within the skin tissue and regenerate tissue damage. They act as a type of repair system for skin. But with age, the number of skin stem cells decreases and their ability to repair the skin becomes less efficient. In clinical studies, Malus domestica stem cell extract was shown to increase the growth rate and number of stem cells. It also protected these stem cells from UV damage – even at low concentrations. Malus domestica stem cell extract also showed a clear age-delaying effect.  In this study senescence (the process of growing old in cells) began after day 14 and the cells, in this study started to shrink; however the same type of cells, when in the presence of Malus domestica Stem cell extract, continued to grow after day 18.
