Retinol

retinolRetinol is a form of Vitamin A that may be converted into other forms of the vitamin. It is an essential vitamin for the body and necessary for the skin, teeth, and bone development.

Vitamin A in the form of Retinol is an effective ingredient in anti-aging because it is able to rejuvenate the skin cells. The powerful ingredient acts as an antioxidant preventing free-radical damage and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Retinol delivers many benefits to the skin including increased collagen production, restoration from sun damage and the reduced appearance of dark spots and skin discolorations.

Retinol is found any many cosmetic products as it is considered a potent ingredient in anti-aging science. When the vitamin derivative  is absorbed into the skin, it is then broken down and transposed into retinoic acid, a compound responsible for enacting cell behavior. Cell rejuvenation requires that old cells be removed and replaced with newer, healthier ones.

Vitamin A alone is often too strong for the skin to tolerate. There are prescription forms of the ingredient available for more severe skin conditions as in the case of acne. Retinol is remarkably potent but is not as harsh as pure Vitamin A which may irritate the skin.
